Early Childhood Music Classes
Ages birth-5years

Help encourage genuine enthusiasm for music at your little one’s most vital time of development. Movement gives your baby, toddler or preschooler the opportunity to build his or her very own musical language. You also play an important role in this fun and interactive class. Once-a-week classes run June 9 - August 12 (no classes June 30 or July 1).

Kindercamp

This fun and educational day camp is filled with multi-cultural music and dance, visual art and stories. Children must be potty trained and be willing to be independent from parent.

Jump, Leap & Spin!
Using Creative Movement, students explore a variety of dance styles, including ballet, jazz, ethnic and mime in this great day-camp experience.

Join us for this two-week-long day camp and experience the fun and excitement of learning to play the violin, viola, cello or bass! Beginners will choose their favorite instrument and learn to play it. Intermediates will work together as a group on fun and educational music. Enjoy recreational activities and exploring the Flint Cultural Center campus.

Summer Fun with Piano

Learn the fundamentals of playing the piano and explore note reading and playing by ear. Develop your musical vocabulary and appreciation of music through a variety of fun activities, including listening, singing, chanting, moving, playing instruments and reading music. Enjoy recreational activities and exploring the Flint Cultural Center campus.

Create-A-Musical
Ages 5-12

Do you like to sing, play an instrument, act, write, and/or dance? Bring the skills you have and learn new ones. At this camp you will join with other students to become a “production company” and learn how to write a script and song lyrics, compose melodies, and choreograph dances.  Produce a completely student-generated show that will be presented at the end of the camp!

Percussion Camp
Ages 6-12

Try your hand at tom-toms, bongos, hand drums, timpani, marimba, shakers, tambourine, maracas and a whole host of other percussion instruments—and learn the proper playing techniques for all of them! You’ll also be introduced to musical basics like rhythm skills and music reading.

Chamber Music Now!

String players, do you miss making music with others during the summer?
 If so, check out Chamber Music Now! for intermediate and advanced violin, viola and cello students. During the 10-day camp, string players will work in small groups to prepare a major piece. Each group will receive individual coaching and master classes daily. On the last day of camp, enjoy the rewards of our hard work in a final concert!

Have you ever wanted to try out an instrument to see if it’s right for you?  The “Ready, Set”  Series is perfect for those students considering playing flute, clarinet, trumpet or trombone. During daily one-hour sessions, students will learn the basics of the instrument including: how to get a big sound, note and rhythm reading, hows and whys to practice, and proper care and maintenance of the instrument. By the end of the session, you will know how to play many fun songs!

Show Choir Camp

Show Choir Camp is an exciting opportunity for students who like to sing and dance. Learn the basics of vocal production, choreography, performance etiquette and stage presence. Each day, students will participate in vocal and movement exercises as well as rehearsing musical numbers for a spectacular final performance on the last day of camp.

Summer Ballet Intensive

This program provides a concentrated class schedule, giving students of all levels an opportunity to focus on strengthening their ballet technique. An emphasis is also placed on pointe work.

New York-Style Hustle
Ages 13 and up

Straight off the streets of New York, learn this new take on the hustle. You might have seen this partner-style on Dancing With The Stars! or danced in the clubs. Bring a partner or just yourself and impress your friends and family with your new moves. Join us for a fun dance with exciting music - let’s hustle!

Salsa

This dance is a fusion of club dances from the Caribbean.  Originated in New York City and infused with Latin beats from Puerto Rico, Salsa is great exercise while boosting your confidence on the dance floor! Bring a partner or just yourself and learn how to burn up the floor this summer. 

Hip Hop

Learn the latest moves and dance to your favorite music in these fun and energetic sessions. The classes are multi-generational and cross over every level from beginners to advanced.

Private Lessons

Private lessons on nearly any instrument and voice are available all summer long. They are a great way for you to learn to play a new instrument or hone existing skills. Rates for 9-week term:
